Junior Carnival Media Launch / Preview on June 28, 2016

 

The media is invited to attend the Toronto Caribbean Carnival Junior Carnival Media Launch on June 28, 2016.  Attending the launch will be CEO Denise Herrera-Jackson and festival staff , local MPPs, City of Toronto councilors, and members of the Caribbean Canadian community .

 

The colourful lunchtime media preview will be held at the Malvern Town Centre Mall to update the media and community leaders about the July 16th Children’s Parade.  Junior masqueraders (with signed model releases) will be showing their new costume designs for the 2016 Festival.  There will also be performances by Junior Calypso singers, a dance group, and pannists.

 

Who:  90 children in mas costumes.

Junior steel pan orchestra. Junior calypso singers.

Spokespeople from the Junior Carnival Parade, MPPS, city councilors ,and will speak at the press launch.

When: June 28, 2016 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

 

Where: Malvern Town Centre Mall, 31 Tapscott Road, Administration Office Toronto, ON, M1B 4Y7

 

What:  The children will present their costumes representing different themes of the masquerade bands.  Junior singers and pannists will perform.

The Toronto Caribbean Carnival is an exciting three-week cultural explosion of Caribbean music, cuisine, and revelry as well as visual and performing arts. It is a major international event and the largest cultural festival of its kind in North America. As Carnival is an international cultural phenomenon, the city of Toronto and the Greater Toronto region will come alive with the pulsating rhythms and melodies of Calypso, Soca, Salsa, Zouk, Reggae, Chutney, Steel Pan and Brass Bands celebrating the Carnival of the Americas.
